VALPARAISO | Police on Thursday announced a reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for five armed robberies that have occurred throughout the city since November.
Valparaiso police believe the same man is responsible for the five armed robberies.
Police on Thursday also released a photograph of a sweatshirt they believe is similar to the one worn by the robber.
They are asking the public's help identifying the man or any information about the robberies.
Most recently, the robber hit Ribordy Liquors 1665 W. Morthland Drive, at 5:35 p.m. Jan. 20. Previously he robbed the Save Gas Station at 908 N. Roosevelt Road just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 19. He was also suspected in the Dec. 15 robbery at Buz's Liquor Store at 1805 E. Lincolnway, and two robberies at the Valpo Quick Trip convenience store, 360 Lincolnway on Nov. 22 and Dec. 3.
Police said in each robbery the man entered the business and displayed a handgun. The subject demanded cash in each incident. He has been described as black, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium build. In each robbery the male subject has worn white tennis shoes and a gray hooded sweat shirt with a red and white dotted pattern. Written across the front of the hooded sweat shirt is the lettering “G Unit Company”.
