VALPARAISO | Police are investigating the city's fourth armed robbery in three and a half weeks, and believe all four were carried out by the same person.
The Save Gas Station at 908 N. Roosevelt Road was robbed just before 6 p.m.
Valparaiso police said a man entered the store, approached the clerk, displayed a semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash.
The suspect is described as about 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, and with a dark complexion. He has worn the same clothing in all of the robberies, which is a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with a diamond type print on it, dark pants and white shoes. He also wears a mask and gloves.
Valparaiso police Sgt. Michael Grennes said the department is following up on several leads in the case.
Officers are going door to door in several areas handing out fliers to residents, asking them to watch for someone matching the description of the robber.
Police are also meeting with business owners to make sure they're aware of the situation and how to prepare or react.
Police believe Wednesday's armed robbery was connected to the robbery Sunday at Buz's Liquor Store at 1805 E. Lincolnway, and two robberies at the Valpo Quick Trip convenience store, 360 Lincolnway on Nov. 22 and Dec. 3.
