VALPARAISO | The Porter County Library System has something for everyone.
Library Card Sign-up Month is a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country remind people how important a library card is. Studies show that children learn best when they have the opportunity to pursue their own interests. Libraries provide students with access to innovative programs, classes and educational resources to support their curiosity.
To get a library card, bring current photo identification and proof of address within Porter County to any branch of the Porter County Public Library System in Hebron, Kouts, Portage, South Haven and Valparaiso.
PCPLS offers many free and low-cost educational and entertaining programs for all ages. Parents can enroll children in story hours, craft programs or a writing workshop while adults can take advantage of health screenings or join a book discussion or knitting group. A complete listing of events is at www.pcpls.lib.in.us.
