VALPARAISO | The South Haven Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a Golf Outing on Saturday, August 24th at Duck Creek Country Club (638 N. 700 W. Hobart, IN) to raise money for the creation of an Honor Guard.

Golf Outing details include:

• Four Person Scramble

• $75 per person

• 9a Shotgun Start

• 18 Holes

• Golf Cart

• Hot Dogs on Course

• Dinner

Golfers can register by emailing Eric at or calling 759-3919 or 608-7290.

The community can support the event by:

• Putting a four-some together and golfing in the event

• Sponsoring a Hole for $50

• Or making a donation

“The role of the Honor Guard is to represent and honor fallen firefighters, and to display flags at ceremonies and special events.” stated Eric Woods, event chairman. Monies raised will be used to purchase uniforms, flags, and required items for the Honor Guard. “Uniforms are costly, and have been the barrier to creating the honor guard sooner, so we’re planning a series of fundraising events to help us cover those costs.”

The next fundraising event in the series is the Honor Guard Softball Tournament scheduled Friday through Sunday, September 13th-15th at Haven Hollow Park (330 W. 700 N., in South Haven). Visit to learn more.
