VALPARAISO | A 44-year-old Lake Station man was taken into custody late Monday night after a homeowner in the 1900 block of Berkley Drive told police he found the man sitting at the bottom of a staircase in his house with an empty milk jug.

Timothy Nelson faces a felony count of residential entry.

Police said they came across Nelson a short time earlier after another resident complained Nelson showed up at their door asking for someone unknown.

Nelson reportedly told police his father dropped him off to visit an aunt and friend. Police arranged for the father to pick up Nelson outside a store, yet he is accused of entering a home instead.

The homeowner said Nelson appeared intoxicated when he asked for Barb and asked to borrow something before leaving the house.

Nelson denied entering the home.
