VALPARAISO | Valparaiso Parks is hiring for several summer job openings to work with youth programming offered through the department.
Umpires are needed for spring and summer youth baseball programs. Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and be familiar with the game of baseball.
Games are played weeknights from 6 p.m. and also on Saturdays. Certification and training will be provided to those who are selected to be on the seasonal baseball umpire staff.
Applications are also available for Discovery Camp counselors; the camp is housed at Rogers-Lakewood Park. It is an outdoor daily summer camp that includes age groups from 3 years up to eighth-graders. Qualified applicants will guide campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities. The summer program runs from early June to mid-August.
