VALPARAISO | A man was arrested Thursday morning along U.S. 30 near the Valparaiso University entrance in connection with a domestic disturbance.

Police were called just before 10 a.m. to the 1200 block of Chicago Street for a domestic disturbance, said Valparaiso police Sgt. Mike Grennes.

Grennes said initial reports indicate a victim was battered and a suspect fled in the direction of the university.

Police were searching in the area of the university and the suspect was arrested along U.S. 30 a short time later.

A university spokesperson said the suspect is not a university student, faculty or staff member.

Additional details were not available on Thursday.
