VALPARAISO — Taltree Arboretum & Gardens received three needle-felting songbirds for its developing native bird display. The Discovery Trackers 4-H Club donated the cost of materials for the project to Susan Beal of Flight of Heart in Bennington, Vermont. She then donated her artistic talents to creating a Chickadee, a Tree Swallow and an Eastern Bluebird.

"Susan's contribution to the new display is more than generous," said Annette Hansen, leader of the 4-H Club, who organized their making.

The faux birds are both realistic and life-sized. The new display will allow Taltree visitors to get an up-close view of these native species along with their nesting boxes, nests and eggs. Taltree volunteer Don Frame will work with the organization to assemble the exhibit.
