VALPARAISO | Two teenage girls were arrested Tuesday after police said they received an anonymous text message tip the girls were joyriding in a stolen car.

Valparaiso police received a text message about 3 a.m. Tuesday through the Tip 411 program that two girls stole a 1994 gold Oldsmobile from a parking lot and were headed to the city's north side.

Officers were waiting for the girls around 3:45 a.m. when they pulled into a parking lot in the 1100 block of Evans Avenue.

Police said the two Valparaiso residents were arrested.

A 15-year-old girl who was driving the car will face a magistrate for alleged auto theft, never receiving a license and possession of marijuana, while her 14-year-old passenger faces an auto theft allegation.
