VALPARAISO | The celebration of the annual YMCA campaign took place at the offices of Century 21 Executive Realty Office, with owner Dawn Collins.
She and her husband Dave Collins are the co-chairs of this year’s Valparaiso YMCA Annual Campaign Fund. At that celebration, with all the volunteers of the campaign, friends and staff of the Y, Collins said, “I moved my offices to be close to my friends at the Y. This campaign gives so much back to our community.”
The Y is grateful to every person who has contributed to this year’s annual community assistance campaign. This campaign assists the Y in providing scholarship assistance to low income individuals, those with disabilities, and social service agencies so that everyone who seeks better health and well-being has access to the facilities and programs of the Valparaiso Family YMCA.
It is the mission of the Y that no individual will be turned away due to the inability to pay. Through this commitment and the generosity of its supporters, they are able to give back $2 to the community for every $1 that is donated to this cause.
This year, these dedicated volunteers and Y staff have raised $184,377. Forty nine volunteer community leaders served as campaigners led by Division Leaders Tom Kennedy, Matt Glaros, Mark Hardwick, John Schoening and Helga Morton.
In February, the annual Y BASH raised a total of $55,500. Chaired by Tom Newton, this event brings together Y members, staff, and countless community volunteers who work together to host an evening of music and dancing, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction. Our Mother’s Day Plant Sale in May raised over $500.
The next event to support the Annual Campaign is the 50 FIT & FABULOUS style show scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 25 at Old Town Banquet Center. Mark your calendar for this event.
