PORTAGE | The Porter County Community Foundation presented the Portage Resale Shop with a Community Fund grant check to support the organization’s current renovations to its new location, 6450 Evergreen Ave. The updates will allow the nonprofit to enhance its community initiatives and potentially offer the facility as a disaster relief center.

The grant funds will help the Portage Resale Shop to install a video security system, build a shed for after-hours donations and make a number of other improvements to its building. The renovation will also give the organization the capability to hold more community-focused events such as seminars and trainings.

Last year, the Porter County Community Foundation was able to distribute more than $1.8 million in grants to nonprofit organizations and scholarships to local students. The Foundation strengthens the work of nonprofits through grants and programs designed to help them advance their work.
