Wright State University will host more than 5,000 students, educators and parents from all 50 states during the 33rd Annual Science Olympiad National Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Students from Thomas Jefferson Middle School, coached by Carol Haller and Richard Bender, will be at the tournament.

Science Olympiad team members include: Lauren Skadberg, Zach Hatseras, Teresa Nelson, Calvin McMurtrey, Ari Kessler, Xander Green, Micah Nathan, Ethan Hutton, Lily Rengstorf, Ian Smith, Zach Heskett, Amol Verma, Max Trowbridge, Joel Teeple, Caden Hamscher and Isaac Utesch. This is Thomas Jefferson’s 28th straight trip to nationals and their 25th state title. They won the national title in 1993 and 1996 and have many top ten finishes to their accomplishments.

Science Olympiad brings together 120 winning middle school and high school teams advancing from state-level competitions this spring. Hands-on and lab events led by experts from government agencies, top universities and Science Olympiad state chapters cover topics in physics, epidemiology, astronomy, chemistry, meteorology and engineering.
