VALPARAISO | Two people were arrested and a third is being sought in connection with reports of rapid-fire gunshots Saturday at a Valparaiso-area mobile home park.
Although no injuries were reported, police found bullet holes in one of the homes.
Police were called about 6 p.m. to the mobile home park at 3805 E. Evans Ave., just east of the city limits. The caller told a dispatcher a man was shooting a handgun in the neighborhood.
Police arrived to find two men outside, one holding a shotgun. Police ordered the man to drop the gun and for them both to walk toward him.
The man holding the gun dropped the weapon but walked into a nearby RV. The other man complied with police orders and was placed in handcuffs. Bryce Relitz, 35, of Kouts, was charged with criminal recklessness, a Class C felony.
The man who had been holding the weapon then walked out of the RV, shouted at officers and walked away, police said.
As police backup arrived, they searched for the man but did not find him.
A woman who had been in the RV also was arrested. Laura Burns, 39, of Gary, was charged with criminal recklessness, a Class C felony.
According to the police report, she told officers she had been shooting weapons in the mobile home park earlier in the day.
Police seized several weapons and collected several spent casings as evidence, according to reports.
Police are still seeking the other man.
