UNION TOWNSHIP | Bearcat Theatre Company and Union Township Middle School will perform "Txt U Later," in which cellphones cause confusion, problems and laughter.
Juliette (Abby Santos) is a typical middle school student, who attends Shakespeare Middle School, has a crush on the popular Horatio (Marcos Buslon) and longs to be popular and beautiful like the seemingly perfect Ophelia (Hayley Johnson). Juliette finds Ophelia’s cellphone and is faced with a choice: Does she keep it or give it back? Is this Juliette’s opportunity to find out how the “in” crowd works? With the help of her little brother, Carl (Zander Rubio), and best friend Viola (Tori Monahan) can Juliette work out her problem, or will the resistance from her so-called friend Tina (Steffani Shelby) and the ever nasty Gertrude (Elaine Jensen) be too much?
Other characters include the crazy school counselor, Mr. Bizzaro (Brandon Davis), and his puppet, Mr. Squishy, the ever awkward Romeo (Aaron Hardison), Ms. MacBeth (Danielle Parris) and Mrs. Capulette (Rachel Gerbick) in this short comedy.
With more than 15 students from UTMS and a directing and production staff of WHS students, this show is directed by senior Austin Germain, with sophomore Ashley Parris as assistant director. High school students also will be running make-up, hair, sound, lights and backstage.
The production runs at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 and 9 and 2 p.m. Feb. 10 at Wheeler High School, 300 N. County Road 587 West. Tickets are $7. For information, call (219) 759-2561, ext. 2243.
