VALPARAISO | Kids Power Porter County members are singing their way to support Porter County Animal Shelter with a Valentine’s Day fundraiser.
The organization is offering two ways to surprise a loved one for the holiday.
For the first option, one or more Kids Power kids will sing a chosen special song for an in-person singing telegram that includes a handmade card and baked treat for $20. These are available in Valparaiso, Portage and Chesterton and will be delivered at a requested time and date between Feb. 9 and 15.
Another option added this year is a personalized Valentine videogram where one or more Kids Power kids will sing or dance on a one- or two-minute video for $10. It can also be saved on a DVD keepsake.
“We added videos this year because it's a cheaper alternative and it's also more fun and creative for the kids,” said Kim Gavaller who founded the group along with daughter Giana. “Videograms are great because, unlike in-person telegrams, the recipient can watch it again and again. They can let others see it. Also, people can order for recipients all over the world.”
Kids Power will give 100 percent of the proceeds from the Valentines to the animal shelter.
“Singing telegrams and videograms are a great way to celebrate the holiday because many times, people run out of ideas about what to get for others to let them know they care,” Gavaller said.
Kids Power is a community service group that supports the animal shelter through activities and fundraisers. The organization is for kids of all ages seeking to make an impact at their own level as the group does not require a time commitment.
