VALPARAISO | Donors gathered at the Valparaiso Family YMCA lobby last month to view The Giving Tree which recognizes those donors who contributed to the Y’s capital campaigns, “Promises Kept” and “Better Together.” It was through these campaigns that the Valparaiso Family YMCA was able to reduce building debt with over $1.1 million raised from the community, with a matching gift from Urschel Laboratories, Inc., bringing the total monies raised to over $2.2 million in 2012.

Valparaiso Family YMCA CEO, Bob Wanek, expressed his gratitude to Urschel Laboratories CEO, Rick Urschel, for Urschel Laboratories’ generosity with the matching gift to the campaign. He also thanked Campaign Co-Chairs, Rob Thorgren and Bill Anderson for their efforts and the campaign committee members who worked on the campaigns over the last two years.

Wanek also thanked the community for its support in these campaigns by adding, “gifts to these campaigns will ultimately have a meaningful, enduring impact right in our own community.”
