VALPARAISO | The Valparaiso High School concert choir performed at the ISSMA contest at Franklin Central in Indianapolis and placed seventh in the state.
The Valparaiso concert band was a finalist at its state championship in Avon.
Linda Schonbachler, choral director, said the competition is like the Sweet 16 of ISSMA and she is is proud of the choir's performances.
The concert choir members are: Emily Ahrendt, Claudia Airey, Maddie Blaney, Torie Cox, Kimi Czerwinski, Carly deKock, Katelyn Hagen, Katheryn Jankowski, Laura Riggle, Jessica Rodriguez, Emily Walsh, Natalie Bleza, Kathryn Bower, Makenna Fetch, Meghan Lomas, Ava Massarella, Margaret Nagai, Rachel Neinast, Annie Rastovski, Claire Simon, Rachelle Takish, Taylor Briel, Olivia Chappell, Cairlyn D'Elia, Kimberly Jankowski, Sophie Kaminski, Renee Romanowski, Kylie Staples, Rachel Keller, Emma Mazurek, Carli Meihofer, Olivia Murray, Rebecca Roe, Storm Stevenson, Marie Warren, Dan Azar, Dan Barajas, Cole Fraire, Ryan Miles, Michael Bukata, Brian Gonzalez, Justin Johnson, Michael Radford, Andy Vecchi, Andrew Flasch, Jonah Jaramillo, Mikey Nieto, Paris Sark, David Staub, Kevin Tognetti, Nathan Bouman, Eric Evory, Corey Gardner, Aidan Kaiser, Micah Nord and Isiah Smith.
The choir has won the state competition three times. It also has performed in Europe 12 times and will be going to Carnegie Hall this summer.
