VALPARAISO | Valparaiso police will take part in a crackdown on drunk drivers starting Friday.

Local officers will join more than 250 state and local law enforcement agencies in high-visibility patrols to designed to identify impaired drivers.

Drivers will also see an increased number of patrols looking for aggressive drivers and unrestrained motorists during the blitz, officials said.

Operation Pull Over Blitz 74 is supported by federal funding allocated to Valparaiso Police Department from the Traffic Safety division of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. Indiana’s crackdown on impaired driving will be reinforced by a paid statewide media campaign as well as public outreach efforts geared toward the prevention of impaired driving.

The crackdown is titled "Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest."
