VALPARAISO | The Brauer Museum of Art at Valparaiso University will display works of art by graduate students and faculty members from Renmin University in Beijing, China.
Renmin University is one of the most prestigious universities in China, with a distinct focus on humanities and social sciences. Renmin has produced many influential figures in China’s reform and development and is home to many outstanding scholars in law, economics, journalism and other fields. Founded in 1999, Renmin’s School of Arts offers a comprehensive arts education, including music performance, design and fine art.
Opening reception for an exhibition featuring graduate student and faculty art from Renmin University, Beijing will be 7 p.m., April 10 at the Brauer Museum of Art, Valparaiso University. The reception will feature a performance by the Mei Feng Traditional Chinese Orchestra.
On display through May 12, the Renmin University exhibition includes works that reflect both traditional and contemporary Chinese perspective, allowing viewers to experience student and faculty art so they can appreciate the various styles and approaches treated in the classrooms at one of China’s most highly regarded universities. The partnership between the Brauer Museum of Art, Valparaiso University’s Confucius Institute and Renmin University to offer this exhibition furthers Valparaiso University’s internationalization efforts as it strives to be a truly global campus.
