VALPARAISO | The Graduate School at Valparaiso University is hosting a weeklong workshop series for arts and entertainment professionals Aug. 5-11.
The week begins with noncredit workshops on international arts and entertainment topics including museums, music and theater. These will be led by Valpo faculty and staff and offer valuable professional development opportunities. All one-day workshops cost $50 per day, plus meals and optional entertainment.
On Aug. 8, participants are invited to experience the arts of downtown Valparaiso through guided tours, exhibits and performances in Valparaiso arts venues. The day culminates with a free evening concert by Chicago Rat Pack at downtown Valparaiso's Central Park Plaza.
The week’s featured workshop takes place Aug. 9, and focuses on grant seeking and grant writing. This workshop can be taken for continuing education credit and offers hands-on grant-seeking learning opportunities as well as instruction on grant-writing strategies. Following the workshop, a showing of "The Importance of Being Earnest" will be held at the Memorial Opera House.
The workshop series closes with a two-day course on Aug. 10 and 11, covering information management for arts organizations including how to collect, organize and use data for customer service, marketing and fundraising purposes. There is a $100 fee for this course.
