VALPARAISO | A Valparaiso police officer was injured Wednesday morning when her car was struck while she was responding to a traffic accident at U.S. 30 and Ind. 49.
Officer Cassidy Kenyon, who was driving a fully marked squad car with all emergency lights and siren activated, was struck at 8:40 a.m. by a westbound vehicle after entering U.S. 30 from southbound Washington Street, according to the department.
Kenyon and the driver of the second vehicle, identified as Sarah Wood, 35, of LaPorte, were transported to Porter Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Other officers responded to the first crash. A 52-year-old man from Plymouth was transported to Porter hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
