VALPARAISO | A 16-year-old Valparaiso High School student faces a felony count of dealing marijuana on school property on allegations he baked marijuana-laced brownies and dispensed them at school Friday.
Police said they responded to a text 411 tip and found a plastic container and metal baking pan with brownie crumbs in a locker at the high school.
The plastic container smelled of marijuana, police said.
The boy in question was called to the office and claimed at first he had joked around when telling others the brownies contained marijuana, according to police. Police said they found two $20 bills in his pocket that he later admitted to obtaining from selling brownies.
Police said the boy admitted to putting a half ounce of marijuana in the brownies and either selling them or giving them away.
Several students were questioned, but searches revealed nothing.
The boy accused of bringing the brownies to school was taken to the hospital to be cleared medically and then transported to the juvenile detention center.
