Wheatfield artist featured in Valparaiso exhibit

VALPARAISO | The art of Doris Myers, of Wheatfield, is featured at The Village Gallery through Aug. 22. The exhibit is free and open to the public at Pines Village Retirement Communities, 3303 Pines Village Circle.

Myers holds a bachelor's degree from Valparaiso University, and an master's from Ball State University. A lifelong student, she has worked in a variety of media, including ceramics (she is a skilled potter), sculpture, printmaking, textiles, photography and more, but always returns to her first love, painting.

Equally fluent in watercolor, oil and acrylic, she presents works in this exhibit that are only a glimpse of the prolific body of work she has produced inmore than 65 years.

Retiring after 23 years as an art educator in public schools, Myers continues as a professional artist and educator, giving lectures, demonstrations and workshops in a variety of media, including painting, pottery and silk painting.

The gallery is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (219) 465-1591.
