VALPARAISO | Whispering Pines Health Care Center demonstrated its devotion to the community by granting the lifelong wish of one of its rehab-to-home residents.

Shortly after a recent hospitalization, Ruth Carroll participated in therapy in order to improve her balance, strength and walking abilities so that she would be able to return home. One of Ruth's lifelong dreams was to ride in a limousine with her husband, Roy. On May 16, Bob Asbridge, owner of Distinguished Limo, assisted Whispering Pines Health Care Center in fulfilling Ruth's dream.

"Bob treated us like royalty. I asked him how much I owned him and he told me all he wanted was a hug. Roy and I had a wonderful time," Carroll said.

Carroll has touched many of the staff at Whispering Pines Health Care Center through her hard work and determination to return home, and many of those staff offer their best wishes as she completes her goals with therapy in preparation for her discharge home.

Whispering Pines Health Care Center has served the community since 1964 as a not-for-profit entity, focused on the well-being of those within the community. For more information, visit or call, 3301 N. Calumet Ave., (219) 462-0508.
