VALPARAISO | A 41-year-old woman faces two felony charges on allegations she stole money and illegally used a credit card while working at Gil Drugs at 52 Lincolnway.
Cynthia Whiteside, of 360 Nathan Terrace, is charged with fraud and theft, both of which carry potential sentences of six months to three years behind bars.
The business reported that $730 was stolen March 9 and $470 was stolen May 24, according to court records.
It also was discovered that someone made an unauthorized charge on a business credit card April 24 of $935 to Coach.
An employee of the store learned Whiteside, also an employee, was selling two Coach purses on Facebook, according to charging documents.
Whiteside admitted to the using the credit card, but did not follow up on an offer to pay the money back, police said. Whiteside also worked both days the money went missing, according to police.
