Free running club
The Free Community Running Club is for amateur runners. They meet at 6 p.m. every Tuesday in the YMCA lobby. Membership is not needed. Dress for the weather. All one-hour runs will be outside unless it is lightning or below 15 degrees. Participants will be running three to five miles with calisthenics and stretching. Must be 14 and up to participate. Fun Zone is only available to YMCA members.
A Turkey Trot is planned for Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28. Run to compete in the 4 Mile Run, or run, jog or walk for fun in the 5K Fun Run. The event includes a 1K fun run for the kids. Open to all ages in the community. 1K begins at 7:15 a.m.; 4 Mile Run begins at 7:30; 5K Fun Run begins at 7:35. Walk-in registration the day of event begins at 6:30. Must register before Friday to receive an event shirt.
Child Care and Development Center (full-time child care) has openings for 2-, 3- and 4-year olds in the state licensed child care center. After the first three weeks, receive the fourth week free.
Play volleyball from 7 to 9 p.m. every Thursday. Free to Y members; $10 for others.
Jump off the beam, flip over the bars, follow your dreams, and reach for the stars. As part of the Y’s focus on Youth Development the Y offers gymnastic for ages 2 through its spectacular “Sparklers” gymnastics team. School age child care
This child care provides a safe, structured environment for after school care from kindergarten through sixth grade in all Duneland elementary schools from dismissal time to 6 p.m. Early morning care also available from 6 to 7:45 a.m.
Luna Mixed Martial Arts is starting a new season at Duneland YMCA on Tuesday. Classes will meet at 6 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday. Be part of a team and get fit, strong and confident practicing MMA. This class will now offer a ranking system. Participants will be able to learn and practice self-defense techniques, boxing and kickboxing, Jiu-jitsu, Kung Fu, Muay Thai and grappling. The cost for the course is $60 per month. For those who register before the start date will receive half off the first months' fee. Participants will also receive a free team T-shirt while supplies last.
Parents Night Out
Parents can use the Parents Night Out program and stop worrying about finding a sitter, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. every Friday. Trained YMCA staff have organized and fun activities planned to keep each child’s attention. The cost for members is $10 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. The nonmember rate is $20 for the first child & $10 for each additional child.
Fitness yoga classes
Fitness classes offered at 6 p.m. with instructor Mary Dacy in the Fitness Room. Insanity Workout - choreographed high intensity interval training program to build muscle while stripping away fat. Classes are at 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday. Pilates Bender Method — the Bender method sculpts the body without risk of overuse injuries. Classes are at 8 a.m. each Tuesday and Thursday.
Valparaiso Family YMCA

Classes are from 4:55 to 5:25 p.m. and 5:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. This class is for 3- to 11-year-olds and provides activities for children with special needs. The cost is $20 for both members and residents.
Valpo Skates is at 605 Campbell St. in Valparaiso in the Ben Franklin Middle School gym annex. Kindergarten through sixth-graders can skate from 6 to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Family Skate is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays (all ages). The cost is $6 per skater.
