Breakfast with Santa
Have breakfast with Santa on Dec. 7. Enjoy pancakes, sausage, eggs and orange juice or milk. Each child gets a gift from Santa and the option to have a photo taken. Children will make crafts. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children, pictures are $2. Registration deadline is Tuesday. Call to register.
Smoking cessation seminar

Classes are from 4:55 to 5:25 p.m. and 5:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. This class is for 3- to 11-year-olds and provides activities for children with special needs. The cost is $20 for both members and residents.
Valpo Skates is at 605 Campbell St. in Valparaiso in the Ben Franklin Middle School gym annex. Kindergarten through sixth-graders can skate from 6 to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Family Skate is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays (all ages). The cost is $6 per skater.
Nutrition for Life
Nutrition for Life offers nutritional counseling in personal, family and group settings led by AFPA Certified Nutrition and Wellness consultants. Learn how to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle by counteracting your nutritional struggles. Weigh-ins, body measurements and personalized plans are included in counseling sessions. Evening with Santa
All families are invited to an affordable holiday celebration from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6. Visit with Santa, play games, make crafts, enjoy a pasta or hot dog dinner, and more. Take a photo with Santa and then make a picture frame in Santa’s Workshop. In the Peppermint Palace, children will participate in nail painting, hair streaking and tattoos. Finish the night with a trip to Santa’s Sweet Shoppe for “Make Your Own Sundae” Bar. Activity tickets will be purchased at the event for a nominal fee. Pre-purchase dinner tickets at the Y for $3.50 and receive a free dessert. Dinner tickets will be sold at the event; bring a canned good for free dessert.

School age child care
This child care provides a safe, structured environment for after school care from kindergarten through sixth grade in all Duneland elementary schools from dismissal time to 6 p.m. Early morning care also available from 6 to 7:45 a.m.
Luna Mixed Martial Arts is starting a new season at Duneland YMCA on Tuesday. Classes will meet at 6 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday. Be part of a team and get fit, strong and confident practicing MMA. This class will now offer a ranking system. Participants will be able to learn and practice self-defense techniques, boxing and kickboxing, Jiu-jitsu, Kung Fu, Muay Thai and grappling. The cost for the course is $60 per month. For those who register before the start date will receive half off the first months' fee. Participants will also receive a free team T-shirt while supplies last.
Parents Night Out
Parents can use the Parents Night Out program and stop worrying about finding a sitter, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. every Friday. Trained YMCA staff have organized and fun activities planned to keep each child’s attention. The cost for members is $10 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. The nonmember rate is $20 for the first child and $10 for each additional child.
"Behavior Management for Young Children" Parenting Workshop begins at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at Duneland YMCA Preschool located in Chesterton Middle School, Door No. 8. Join us for a workshop on managing difficult behaviors in preschoolers. Experts on strategies for school and home will provide an interactive learning experience and take-home materials. Information on special needs such as ADHD will also be presented. There is no cost to attend. Childcare will be provided.
Now enrolling 2-year-olds, includes potty training. For children aged six weeks to kindergarten from 5:45 a.m. to - 6:30 p.m. Preschool activities are presented with intent to prepare children for kindergarten. Curriculum consists of structured playtime (group games, science experiments and more) along with unstructured playtime (free choice activities, gym time and more), appreciation for nature, age appropriate academics including shapes, colors, letter recognition and emergent reading, The YMCA's core values are taught and practiced in the areas of responsibility, respect, caring and honesty.
Classes begin Dec. 4 with instructor Mary Dacey in the Fitness Room. Yoga classes every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with instructor Chris in the Community Room.
