First Tee Golf

Y Full- and Half-Day preschool

YMCA Summer Camp sign-up
This year’s camp runs June 10 to Aug. 16 and includes great field trips, swimming, arts and crafts, sports and games, cooking, movie days and more. Get ready for some golf on July 25 at the Valparaiso Country Club. This year marks the Valparaiso Family YMCA’s 23rd annual golf outing. Registration and lunch is at 11 a.m with a shotgun start at noon. The cost is $125 per golfer or $500 per team. Funds raised provide affordable sports programs for all kids to learn, grow and thrive.
11th annual Valpo Triathlon
Online registration is now open for the Valpo Triathlon which will take place at 8 a.m. July 13. This race features a ¼-mile swim, a 12.4-mile bike ride, and a 3.2-mile run and is a sanctioned USA Triathlon event. Participants must register by July 10, with a limit of 500 participants (register by June 27 to receive a dry-release wicking shirt). Race fees are $72 for non-USAT members and $60 for USAT members. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a 12-week program for adult cancer survivors and is offered free at the Valparaiso Family YMCA. It is open to Y members and the community. Program focus includes improving cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, flexibility, balance, stress management and confidence. Next session will run on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:15 to 7:30 pm and will begin Wednesday. Register by Monday.
Classes are from 4:55 to 5:25 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. This class is for 3- to 11-year-olds and provides activities for children with special needs. The cost is $20 for both members and community.
Track and Field
Represent the Valparaiso Family YMCA as we race through our first Track & Field Program! Youth, ages 4-to-10 will compete as part of the Valpo Y Team against area organizations including the Valpo Parks & Recreation Department. Triathlon Training Program
Get ready for the 11th Annual Valpo Triathlon with training program. Participants will train to swim .25 miles, bike 12.5 miles and run 3.2 miles. This 36-hour training course is $100 for Y members and $200 for community. Register by May 31. Training starts on June 3.

Preschool registration for fall is open for current students and siblings. Registration will be open to the public. Register early to receive a spot. Financial assistance scholarships are available to those who qualify.
Child care, development

Register a child for his/her sport physical with employed physicians & nurse practitioners of St. Mary Medical Center. Cost is $20. Physicals will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and June 8. Registration required. Call (219) 764-7217.
All full-time college students with schedule or current college ID will receive a single primary plus membership for $31 a month with no joiner fee. Membership must be purchased by July 31.
No Bummer Summer Camp
No Bummer Summer Camp is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 10 to Aug. 16. Before and after camp hours are also available for working parents from as early as 6:30 am to as late as 6 p.m. Free specialty clinics three days a week. Sports of all sorts, Swimmies, Crafty Corner and No Bake Chef.
Free Community Open Swim
Free community open swim is the first Friday of the month at the Portage High School West Pool from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. for the month of May and June. Children must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older the entire time and must stay with child.
Duneland Family YMCA

The Duneland Family YMCA will be hosting an open house from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Those who attend the open house will have an opportunity to tour the facility, learn about member benefits, and enjoy a waived joiner's fee if they become members during the event.
Family Fun Fitness
Family Fun Fitness is offered for parents and their children 6-12 years old each week on Monday and Wednesday at 4:45 p.m. This fitness class gives parents and children a chance to exercise together while taking part in numerous physical activities: hula-hoop, Zumba, Mixed Martial Arts and games. This class is complimentary with a membership and taught by fitness professionals. Nonmembers can purchase a daily pass to participate.
Parent's Night Out
Every Friday night from 6 to 9:30 p.m., Parents can utilize the Parent’s Night Out program and stop worrying about finding a sitter. Trained YMCA staff have organized and fun activities planned to keep each child’s attention. From arts and crafts to gym time it is never a dull moment on Friday evenings at the Y. Not to mention, it is affordable! The cost for members is $10 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. The nonmember rate is $20 for the first child & $10 for each additional child. Reservations must be made by Thursday of each week.
Summer Camp registration is now open for students in the first through 12th grades. Kids will enjoy a summer full of nature, water fun, games, field trips (Dunes National Lakeshore, RailCats and Fair Oaks), crafts, and new friendships.
Swim Lesson Registration
Swim Lesson Registration is now open. Swimming is a valuable life skill for children at all ages. Every day, children learn the basics of swimming at the Y or enhance their skills with our progressive lessons that turn beginners into experts, polliwogs into sharks. And our kids are having fun, being healthy, learning safety and building confidence all at the same time! A Porter Community Wellness Nurse will be conducting free blood sugar/blood pressure/body mass index screenings 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday.
Smoking Cessation Program
Porter Regional Hospital will be hosting a Smoking Cessation Program at 5:30 p.m. May 29 for members and individuals within the community who need would like assistance to quit smoking. This program is free of charge.
