VALPARAISO | The 16th annual city employees food drive is underway through Monday at city hall.

A truck donated by McCasland Leasing will be parked in front of city hall to accept nonperishable items.

Food drive organizer Jeffrey Van Syoc said, "the food we collect is distributed to nearby food pantries to help brighten the holiday season for local families."

Food and other items can be dropped off during regular business hours — 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday — inside the City Hall lobby. Those preferring to make a financial contribution can also do so during those hours or by contacting Van Syoc at JVanSyoc@valpo.us.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, volunteers will be at the Town and Country, 1605 Calumet Ave., and the Strack and Van Til, 2169 W. U.S. 30, to accept both food and financial donations.
