Porter County retired teachers host legislative forum

UNION TOWNSHIP | The public is invited to attend the third annual Legislative Forum and Update for residents of Porter County, sponsored by the Porter County Retired Teachers Association at 9 a.m., Saturday.

The event will be held in the auditorium at Wheeler High School, 587 County Road 300 North.

All legislators representing Porter County are scheduled to attend.

Those who would like to attend should use the east entrance to the school.

Registration will be from 8:30 until 9 a.m.

"This forum gives individuals a chance to hear their elected state legislators explain what is happening in the 2014 session of the Indiana General Assembly," said Barbara Stroud, president of the Porter County Retired Teachers.

Ralph Ayres, former state representative, will moderate the forum and legislators will respond to questions submitted in writing from those attending the event.

The legislators scheduled to attend are: Sen. Ed Charbonneau, R-Valparaiso; Sen. Karen Tallian, D-Ogden Dunes; Rep. Ed Soliday, R-Valparaiso; Rep. Scott Pelath,D-Michigan City; Rep. Rick Niemeyer, R-Lowell and Rep. Chuck Moseley, D-Portage.
