WINFIELD | The Winfield/LOFS Chamber of Commerce will award two $1,000 scholarships to local high school graduates who plan to continue their education at a college, university or technical school in the next academic year.
The scholarships are awarded to applicants who submit the best essay entries and completed application packet by Friday.
This year’s topic and contest forms are available at winfieldchamber.com, guidance offices at Crown Point, Boone Grove and Andrean high schools, and by email request to email@example.com.
Eligible are area high school students who have graduated, or will graduate, this academic year from an eligible public or private secondary school, and accredited home-schooled students who will earn a high school diploma.
Applicants must reside in the chamber’s service area, which includes the town of Winfield, Winfield Township and both the Lake and Porter county sides of Lakes of the Four Seasons, along with Boone Grove High School students living in West Porter Township.
To receive the scholarship, applicants must be accepted for classes in the next academic year at an accredited college, university or qualifying vocational or technical school, and pursue a program of study that leads to a degree, professional certification or license.
