VALPARAISO — The new Valparaiso High School natatorium, work on which will start next spring, will include a 50-meter pool, lounge, public restrooms and spectator seating for 700 people, James Thompson, president of Gibraltar Designs, told the Valparaiso Community School Board this week.
The just under $17 million pool replacement will serve the high school, all grade levels and the community.
In other business:
— Other school construction projects throughout the system remain on schedule and on budget with work continuing through the winter at all sites, Scott Cherry of Skillman Corp. said.
— Construction sites have been buttoned up in light of recent acts of vandalism which have been addressed by the school corporation and police, School Superintendent E Ric Frataccia said.
— The school board approved advertising for bids for school furniture, furnishings and equipment at Northview, Parkview, Central and Thomas Jefferson elementary schools.
— The board also reaffirmed the $151,470 annual salary of Frataccia.
