A Cook County judge Thursday set a $300,000 bond for a 56-year-old Lansing man who police say raped his girlfriend's 15-year-old daughter repeatedly over the course of a year and a half.
Randy Wise has been charged with criminal sexual assault and is accused of entering the victim's bedroom late at night, two to three times every week, from January 2005 until July 2006, Cook County assistant state's attorney Christine Opp said.
Wise, who has no prior convictions, is scheduled to appear Feb. 21 in Cook County court in Markham for a preliminary hearing.
After setting bond, Judge Thomas Condon granted a protective order for the victim, and told Wise, "If you get released (on bond) you cannot have any contact with this person or any other minor."
Prosecutor's said that soon after the alleged assaults began, the girl became pregnant, Opp said. On Nov. 11, 2005, the girl gave birth to a child, and DNA tests have proved Wise is the father, she said.
Despite the pregnancy, "he continued (the assaults) after the child was born," Opp said. Wise had lived with the victim and her mother for the last 13 years, she said.
Lansing police arrested Wise on Tuesday.
