MUNSTER | Alicia Keys belted out "The Star-Spangled Banner" through Jake Galik's car radio as he delivered pizzas to a Munster family watching the Super Bowl.

Galik, a driver for Aurelio's Pizza in Munster, dropped off two pizzas and pasta to a house near the intersection of Marlou Drive and Brandywine Drive. It was one of the many deliveries he expected to make Sunday.

He was one of two Munster Aurelio's delivery drivers working Super Bowl Sunday, one of the busiest nights for pizzerias across the country.

Jake Galik's sister Krystyn Galik is the head general manager at the Munster restaurant. She estimated the pizzeria would use 160 pounds of sauce, 240 pounds of cheese and 150 pounds of sausage Sunday. The amounts are much higher than what the restaurant typically uses.

Jake Galik, 25, began working at the pizzeria when he was 15 and worked at the location through high school and college. Another Galik sibling also works at the location, and Jake Galik's mother once worked at Aurelio's Pizza in Hammond.

His workday began at 2 p.m. Sunday, and he said the volumes of orders peak before the game starts and during halftime.

Galik made deliveries without the help of GPS and could tell by 6 p.m. that this night wasn't as busy as previous Super Bowl nights.

As he drove through Munster to deliver pizzas listening to the Super Bowl on the radio he recalled the busiest night he has ever worked: 2009's Super Bowl Sunday.

"Now people are more conscious about their money," he said.

Munster Aurelio's restaurant remained empty and quiet Sunday except for the kitchen. Workers crammed in the small area making pizzas and taking orders.

Krystyn Galik, who also has worked at the location since she was 15, moved seamlessly throughout the process doing everything.

"It's a busy night like we anticipated," she said.
