WESTVILLE | A Valparaiso-area woman was identified as the driver of the SUV that collided with a motorcycyle Tuesday, killing two people on the motorcycle.
LaPorte County Police said Thursday that Pamela Owen, 49, of Valparaiso was the driver of the SUV that hit the oncoming motorcycle on U.S. 421 in Westville.
Owen told police she had fallen asleep a couple times on her way home Tuesday night and did not remember the crash, police said.
She was taken to St. Anthony Memorial Health Centers in Michigan City complaining of back pain.
Results of blood tests on Owen are pending, and no charges have been filed.
The investigation shows Owen was southbound on U.S. 421 and crossed into the northbound lane, striking the oncoming motorcycle, according to police.
Alex Esser, 33, of Valparaiso and his passenger, Jennifer Ray, 20, of South Haven were pronounced dead at the scene.
