BOWLING EVENT | Crown Point
Crown Point Parks and Recreation Department will host a Cooperative Special Recreation Initiative bowling event at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at The Super Bowl Inc., 218 S. East St. C.S.R.I. is a venture seeking ways to increase recreational opportunities for individuals of all ages who have special needs. WILD WEST FALL FEST | Crown Point
Round up family, friends, and neighbors and stampede over to the Wild West Fall Fest from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Town & Country Christian Church, 7037 E. 117th Ave. There will be fun for all ages including a huge cardboard maze, crazy games, an old 'jail,' and plenty of candy. Plenty of soup, chili, and all kinds of eats at the chuck wagon stand. Family activities will run from 6 to 8 followed by a teen party starting at 8. In "Shadow Divers," this year's Books to Bridge the Region selection for adults, two deep sea divers discover a sunken German U-boat off the coast of New Jersey that is not supposed to be there. Viewers will watch a NOVA documentary that captured the divers in action and explains the successes and failures of the German WWII submarine campaign at 1:30 p.m. today at the Lake County Public Library's St. John branch, 9450 U.S. 41.
