Crown Point Parks and Recreation Department and Oasis Video host a Kids' Movie and Snacks for children 5 to 12 at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Civic Center, 101 S. ANNUAL DINNER | Hobart

Hobart's historic buildings is the topic of the program at the Hobart Historical Society's annual dinner. It will take place Nov. 6 at River Pointe Country Club. Bob Green will be the speaker. The dinner will open with a cash bar at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and are available at the Hobart Historical Society Museum, 706 E. 4th St. Those wishing to attend should buy tickets or make reservations in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Rosary Sodality of SS. AMVETS Post 15 Auxiliary is hosting a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at the post home, 13335 Morse St. Order Alaskan pollack for $6.50, butterfly shrimp for $8.50 or a combo plate for $7.50. Dinners include cole slaw or cottage cheese, potato, roll and butter. Children's portions available and carry-outs are 50 cents extra. Proceeds will fund auxiliary projects and charities.

Merrillville Adult Education GED two-day test dates are 4:45 to p.m. Nov. 10 and 11 and Nov. 17 and 18 at Merrillville High School, 276 E. 68th Place. Friends of Steve Carpenter are hosting a benefit dinner for the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 7 at Highland Elks Lodge , 3120 45th Ave. Carpenter was diagnosed with stage four adenocarcinoma in July and is currently in the care of hospice. He had been self-employed prior to his diagnosis, Proceeds will be used for medical expenses and the care of his family.

Tickets are now available for Franciscan Communities at St. Anthony Campus' annual dinner dance and silent auction at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at The Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza, Interstate 65 and U.S. 30. The theme is "Oldies & Goodies" and the band Together will entertain along with a silent auction and a chance to unlock a treasure chest of prizes valued at up to $1,000. Tickets are $60 each and sponsorship opportunities are available. Proceeds from this event will help defray the cost of patient care and services on the St. Anthony Campus.

COMEDY ON STAGE | Crown Point

Crown Point High School's Theatre Department will present the Neil Simon comedy "Rumors" on stage at 7 p.m. Nov. 7, 8, 13, 15 and 16 and at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in the CPHS Auditorium, 1500 S. Main St. The plot revolves around four couples gathered at the New York City deputy mayor's home to celebrate he and his wife's anniversary. The guests begin a cover-up and become more and more crazed after the host shoots himself in the head (a flesh wound) and his wife disappears. All seats are reserved, and tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for senior citizens and students. Reserve tickets by phone or in person. Box office hours are 2:45 to 4 p.m. weekdays.

MINI SCRAPBOOKING | Wheatfield

Create a colorful display for those memorable photos at a Mini Scrapbooking program at 6 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Wheatfield Library, 350 S. Bierma St. Adults will create a 3-by-3-inch mini scrapbook using all-occasion paper and embellishments. Cost is $10 and all materials will be provided; bring cutting tools.
