TOLEDO, Ohio | A Schererville woman was among three people killed Wednesday in a massive traffic pileup on the Ohio Turnpike, about halfway between Toledo and Cleveland.

Janice Robb, 66, died from injuries she suffered in a crash involving about 20 vehicles, the State Highway Patrol said.

A series of crashes involving about 40 vehicles Wednesday included two separate pileups, police said.

Officials said it will take days to clean up the tractor-trailers and debris left behind on a 2-mile stretch of the eastbound lanes of the toll road southwest of Sandusky.

The two other people killed in the pileups included a truck driver from Illinois and 20-year-old Hannah Matheny, of Parma, Ohio, who was in another car.

A trooper who was pinned between two vehicles during the crashes remained in serious but stable condition Thursday.
