Our Thanksgiving paper will tip the scales at five pounds again this year, and it will include all of the news and shopping bargains you’ll need to plot out Black Friday and a great holiday weekend.

I call this the Super Bowl of delivery, when our 265 carriers get a workout dropping off this biggest paper of the year at subscribers’ homes.

It’s a massive effort by all departments at The Times Media Co., but the result is a paper that will be ready for you before or after the biggest meal of the year.

And in Northwest Indiana, Thanksgiving will come a day early for residents who want their first glimpse at shopping bargains.

For the third year, we’ll publish a “bulldog,” or early edition, which will be available at grocery stores and single-copy outlets as early as mid-morning Wednesday. You can include the early Thanksgiving paper with your purchases and get a jumpstart on everyone.

Our Thanksgiving paper will be an update of the Bulldog, and it will arrive at homes late Wednesday or early Thursday. Each will have multiple sections, including Arts & Entertainment, and there will be dozens of inserts with shopping bargains.

“We are excited to once again have one of the heaviest newspapers in the country,” said Joe Battistoni, our vice president of sales and marketing. “We have over 55 inserts from local and national retailers that I’m sure will be shared around the Thanksgiving table.”

Making the delivery will be our carriers, perhaps your neighbors or family and friends, who will take multiple trips as they deliver The Times and all of the other papers coming into the Region.

“Again this year our dedicated carriers will be delivering a huge five-pound newspaper on the holiday,” said Scott Kinter, regional circulation director. “These hard-working women and men make their deliveries each morning, seven days a week, 365 days each year.”

Enjoy the biggest paper of the year, and don’t miss the ThanksGIVEaway contest, back for another year.

ThanksGIVEaway is a contest for readers of Lee Enterprises’ papers, including The Times. There’s a grand prize of $5,000 in the contest that runs through Dec. 3.

There also are three $100 gift cards, compliments of Strack & Van Til and Town & Country, for Times readers who are winners in the contest.

Refer to the bulldog and/or the Thanksgiving paper for entry details. Good luck.

Safe travels this week. Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and friends.
