Soon, I will have the opportunity to enjoy a few days in Washington, D.C., with a group from my school. We will be joining with people all across America in the Right to Life March.
We will march for all of the unborn babies who never got a chance to live because of abortion, and we will march to end abortions. These little innocent lives have no say in whether they get to live, so it's up to us to speak for them.
I think it is wrong to abort a baby in the womb. A baby is a life no matter how far along in the pregnancy. All life is sacred. I am proud to say I am pro-life.
It's not up to us to decide when people get to live. It's not up to us to end people's lives. If it were, too many people would be gone for the wrong reasons.
If it were OK for us to end people's lives, tragedies, like what happened in Newtown, Conn., would happen way too often. We, as a nation, can't handle more tragedies like that. Those experiences are heartbreaking. Even though most of us don't know the victims, it still hurt and hit close to home for many people.
I am proud that I get to march with other pro-life friends and complete strangers in our nation's capital, united by a common bond. We're all going to be there for the same reason, and that is a great thing.
Although this is my first time going, I am very excited. I can tell it will be life-changing. We are there to make a difference and to make a point to our government officials.
I'm not writing this article to be offensive, but this is how I feel. Abortion is harsh and not the only option. Adoption is an option.
It might seem scary, but you're not alone. There are many people who go through the same thing to whom you can talk. There are great organizations like PASS Pregnancy Care Centers that can help you. They offer counseling, before or after an abortion, and have programs to help. There are other options than abortion.
I am excited for my trip to Washington, D.C., to march with other pro-life people and make a difference. It will be a great experience and a blessing.
