Northwest Indiana residents "braved the shave" to raise money for childhood cancer research through a dozen different St. Baldrick's fundraising events in 2017.

As of late last week, people willing to have their heads shaved raised $172,868 through these combined Region events — all money pledged to seeking cures for one of our Region and nation's biggest child killers.

We asked for Region St. Baldrick's shavees to share selfies of their shearings to help bring more attention to the cause. Today, we share some of those photos, combined with Times staff photography of various Northwest Indiana St. Baldrick's events.

We hope you enjoy this image collection of Region men, women and children "Rocking the Bald" in 2017.
