No committee will stop me from working on my house

No committee will stop me from working on my house

This is in response to all of the recent articles about Valparaiso's "historical area."

Maybe those of us who were opposed to the whole idea just don't care. That's how it is for me. When the historical district committee wants to start paying my mortgage and my taxes, then I'll get its permission to do work on my house. Until that time, I feel no one has any right to tell me what I can or cannot do to my home.

As far as I know, this is still America, still a democratic nation, and I still have my rights. My rights include doing whatever I want to my house, whenever I want to do it. No committee is going to tell me what I can do and when.
