Attendance at wedding said a lot about dedication

I would like to thank Steve Hanlon for his column "What's Going on Down by the River."

Dennis Leonard is my brother. He has given the past 39 years of his life to the school system. I can personally attest to that fact since the very first Saturday football game was held on Sept. 2, 1978; my wedding day.

Guess whose big brother wasn't at her wedding? Guess whose little brother got benched because he WAS at the wedding?

At the time I was a very hurt 19 year old. Now, I think it speaks to his dedication, commitment and discipline. I'm so sorry those attributes are no longer valued.

Oh and discipline? It's no longer welcome lest we hurt someone's feelings.

I would like to thank my brother for bringing honor to the name our wonderful father gave us and for always making us proud!
