Our nonprofit organization, Civilian Conservation Corps Initiative Inc, would like to improve on the recent letter by John Wolf, of Valparaiso, entitled, "CCC could inspire modern response to joblessness."

Wolf, did mention all the Civilian Conservation Corps was in Pocatello, Idaho, as well as every state and U.S. territory. It battled unemployment in the Great Depression, and the program spawned a “golden age” for the parks and forests through major renovation projects.

As the president of the Civilian Conservation Corps Initiative Inc, we ask citizens to join us in a bipartisan, grassroots effort to to go back to the future and re-establish our most popular jobs program. The Civilian Conservation Corps can be considered an alternative national service along side military service.

CCCI Inc. wants to give readers notice of a bill in Congress, HR 188, the 21st Century CCC Act, by Rep. Marcy Kaptor of Toledo, Ohio. Consider contacting your member of Congress and urge them to co-sponsor HR 188, the 21st Century CCC Act, to re-establish a program that would give jobs for our young military aged citizens and war veterans who need work.

Today, more than ever, we must bring the CCC program back for the sake of future generations.

- Jay D. Alexander, president of CCCI, Inc., St. Petersburg, Fla.
