The people of Portage Township know the elections for federal, state and county officials are important. However, on Nov. 6, you will also have to decide who will represent you on your School Board for the Third District.

Although the candidates must live in the Third District, all of Portage Township will vote for these candidates.

Being a retired teacher, I feel every voter has an obligation to look at the qualifications of the people running especially Jessica Bailey. Bailey has the educational background to sit on the board, worked in the South Haven schools, has taught classes, but most important she is the only one who has children in the system for the next four years.

So be sure you vote for the qualified School Board candidate from the Third District -- Jessica Bailey.
