B. J. Hubbard is being naive to think the Crown Point Community School Corp. property on West Street should be transferred to the city at no charge.

I live in Center Township, and previous to that I lived in Winfield Township. As a resident of the school district, I am part owner of that lot. If it is given to the city, I lose all benefit and value of that property. If, on the other hand, the city reimburses the school corporation a fair value for that lot, my claim has been satisfied and Hubbard has suffered no loss. His money has simply shifted from the left pants pocket to the right.

The city must reimburse the school corporation fair value for the parcel; to think otherwise is not fiscally responsible for either party.
