It was a pleasant surprise to read Maria Becerra won her lawsuit vs. Hammond and Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr.

And it’s only for all the times people would tell me they were going file a lawsuit to right a wrong. You discover they lack backbone to follow through on their threats, but Becerra, who was fired from her job as Hammond Housing Authority's director went through the process and won.

The judgment she won was $200,000, which proves her contention from Day One. Kudos for taking on McDermott, who was behind this whole deal.

“You go, girl” for standing up for your rights!
