The recent campaign encouraging children to become interested in reading by wearing clown noses and reading the Preamble to the Constitution was beyond degradation. Not only was it demeaning for the students, to choose our Constitution iced the cake.
Always a rebel, I'd be in the principal's office refusing to wear something so ridiculous as a clown nose. Why not choose glasses?
My take of this idiotic scheme is to not only demoralize the student by embarrassing him/her, but also to ingrain in their minds, never again to look at something called the Constitution.
I will never again question home-schooling or vouchers again. Something is seriously wrong with this current system of learning.
The dumbing down of students? In this case, it was definitely the dumbing down of the adults. Or is it truly a subversive measure with much more to follow?
