One Region's Quality of Life Indicators report on Northwest Indiana -- "Region in Transition" -- is interesting and valuable for the future. Thank you.

America, and the world, have been in transition for a decade or more. What people learn from the past, or daily, varies enormously.

God's good creation, given to mankind to care for and govern with love, truth, honesty and intelligence, has overall more failures and tragedies than successes.

So does Northwest Indiana. The success in the areas of culture and the environment, and the reality of difficulties on education, the economy and transportation, and the failure to foresee the needs of the housing market, are common people problems.

The failure in health, government and public safety, however, is inexcusable and a tragedy. Corruption and greed, like war, only destroy lives, and the quality of life declines for everyone.
