It was while doing the story about an alleged sexual assault at the Lake County Government Center that my premise began.

A source who told me a black guy and a white guy who worked in housekeeping were suspect. It's also established that both were part-time workers in housekeeping at the Government Center.

The road got bumpy when a Times reporter inquired about part-time housekeeping workers. Black guy and white guy no longer worked there. In so many words, the reporter was told the county doesn't keep track of part-time workers.

But the county beat us over the head with the 300 jobs that had been cut from the county payroll.

And don't forget the number of county take-home cars. The county can't give us a number on how many and who's got them. But they still want us to trust them with this new county tax?
